Hengdian and Shanghai are now directly linked via a new high-speed railway line, significantly reducing nonstop travel time between the two cities to just 2 hours and 15 minutes one way.

The new line, called the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway, forms part of the fastest and only direct line connecting Hengdian to Hongqiao Station in downtown Shanghai. Previously, travelers were required to transfer at Yiwu via the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway line.

Now, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou line connects directly with the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway, allowing passengers to travel directly to and from Hengdian Station. Tickets can be purchased through the 12306 railway app.

The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou route first began operations on December 26, 2024. The total distance of the newZQ line covers 164 kilometers, and the high-speed train runs at 350km/hr.

In addition, a new direct Hengdian-Beijing route is set to open on April 10, which will shorten the journey from Hengdian to Beijing from a previous duration of ten hours to just seven hours.

The expected route will stop at 16 stations instead of 21 and will no longer pass through Shanghai, effectively reducing the total duration of the journey. The same route from Beijing to Hengdian does not yet exist.
