This year’s enrollment capacity will be 50 students, with around 30 enrollees coming from Hengdian College’s early admission batch, which began on March 8.

Woosong College was Hengdian College’s “first choice” of international partner for its joint program, according to a Hengdian College spokesperson.

“Our college has a long history of cooperation with Woosong College, engaging in instructor and student exchanges every year,” he said. “We find Woosong’s management philosophy sophisticated and their professorial instruction of a high caliber.”

The course will span three years, with the first and second years undertaken in Hengdian College of Film and Television, incorporating much of Woosong College’s educational philosophy, course structure, curriculum, teaching model and management experience.

The third year will be spent at Woosong College, providing students an opportunity to gain the latest knowledge in film and television as well as the most up-to-date fashion in image design.

The course will be jointly taught by Woosong professors and Chinese instructors, all with rich practical skills and experience.

Through the program, students will be able to earn professional qualifications in Korea as makeup artists, hairstyle designers, manicurists, skincare managers, and image designers.

After graduating, students of the joint program will receive certifications of specialization from both Hengdian College of Film and Television as well as associate degrees from Woosong College. They will eligible also to apply for master’s programs in relevant specialties in Woosong University directly.

The Sino-Korean program has already received approval from the Zhejiang Department of Education and has been registered at the Ministry of Education. It is also now included in the national college admission.

Image Design is an existing offering at Hengdian College, and currently the foremost specialization, as well as a characteristic profession of the Zhejiang government’s “13th Five Year Plan.”

The joint program marks an important step in Hengdian College’s efforts toward internationalizing its education endeavors and demonstrates the ways it explores new teaching models.

Hengdian College is also conveniently located near Hengdian Movie Studios. As part of their curriculums, students at the college have the opportunity to visit studios to watch observe real film crews at work and gain firsthand experience in costume and image design.

Graduates from Hengdian College have worked as makeup artists and stylists on crews of acclaimed movies, including Wolf Warrior, Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace and Nirvana in Fire 2.

Currently, Hengdian College has 24 curricular offerings, 8 of which are certified as achieving provincial level strength and provincial characteristics. Among all vocational colleges in Zhejiang province, Hengdian College is the only one that offers a Film and TV Makeup specialization.

In 2020, Hengdian College students won a first-class award, two second-class awards and a third-class award at the Zhejiang Arts Festival for University Students.

Earlier, in 2017, Image Design students earned a first-class award and a second-class award in the Zhejiang Arts Festival for University Students and first prize in Zhejiang Vocational Skill Competition. In 2018, students won a silver and two bronze awards in the Beijing Film and Television Makeup Competition.
