Hengdian General Airport is invested and built by Hengdian Group. Zhejiang Hengdian Airport Co., Ltd. is responsible for its management and operation. It is the first town-level general airport in China. It is the first batch of aviation flight camps, civil aviation popular science education bases and demonstration points for national defense education in China. It is Zhejiang Aviation Rescue National Economic Mobilization Center, Aviation Emergency Rescue Base and a pilot unit of country with strong transportation network "Tourism General Airport".
In December 2017, the airport was issued a Class A1 General Airport Use License by the CAAC East China Regional Administration. Now it has a runway of 800×45 meters, covering an area of 347,600 m2, a flight area class 2B, apron area of 26,000 square meters, 24 A and B aircraft can be parked, and the hangar area is 7 460 square meters, 30 A and B aircraft can be parked. It officially opened in March 2018, and nearly 20 navigable enterprises have been introduced to the airport, carrying out a number of navigation services such as aviation emergency rescue, medical rescue, aviation forest protection, short-distance transportation, low-altitude tourism, flight training, etc.
At present, the airport is undergoing renovation and expansion, with a total investment of 2.106 billion CNY and a total land use of 1,417,333 m2, extending the existing runway to 1,800 meters, relying on the rich tourism and film and television resources of horizontal stores, deepening the pilot operation of "aviation + film and television + tourism", carrying out business such as official aircraft and travel charter flights, and creating the first characteristic business jet airport in China.
