于1980年介入电视界，在当时热播的黄金档综艺节目《搞笑行动》中从事幕前和幕后工作，大获成功。之后他的人气一路攀升，很快成为新加坡最红的电视明星之一。
在正式跨入影坛之前，梁智强曾经在几部当地电视剧和电影中饰演过小角色。《钱不够用》是他进军影坛的首部影片。这部由他同时出任编剧和主演的影片成为迄今为止商业最为成功的当地电影。该片至今还在新加坡所有影片票房排行榜上名列第三。公次于《铁达尼号》和《失落的世界》。
1998年，梁智强凭他的短片获得当年银幕奖最佳导演奖，并录制了几张专辑。

Screenwriter/Director/Actor (act as Mr.Liu)
Liang Zhi-qiang entered television field in 1980, he worked
as a front and behind-the-screen in the popular program Funny
Action and make a hit. Soon he became the most popular TV star
in Singapor.
He once played small roles in several local TV plays and films
before he entered the moviedom. That One NO Enough is his first
feature film. He also occupied the screenwriter and the leading
role in this film, which is regarded as the most successful
commercial film in Singapor up to now. This film is in the third
place in the tickets office in all the films in Singapor, following
with Titanic and The Falling World.
Liang zhi-qiang received the Best Director Award of the Screen
Award based on his several short films in 1998 and he also made
several special recordings.
